UR g-Series – UR10g-1750, UR17g-1300 and UR18g-950

New Platform Generation 7

Universal Robots introduces Gen 7, a comprehensive AI-powered industrial automation solution, together with its latest series of collaborative robots – the UR g-Series. The seventh generation of UR cobots features an overhaul of all system components, taking the exceptional cobot experience to the next level. The series runs on the company’s latest software, PolyScope X, while the controller, Teach Pendant, and Tool Flange have all been completely redesigned and reengineered.

New g-Series Models

The Gen 7 series include three new cobots – the UR10g-1750, UR17g-1300, and UR18g-950 – named according to their payload capacity in kilograms and reach specifications.

UR10g-1750

The UR10g-1750 retains the same precise linear motion and high-speed acceleration as its predecessor, the UR8 Long, while featuring an upgraded flange that provides Ethernet connectivity and 24/48V DC power with up to 3A directly at the cobot wrist. This makes it easier to integrate sensors and cameras.

UR17g-1300

The cobot’s compact and lightweight design allows for easy integration into a wide range of production environments and applications, even where space is limited. The UR17g-1300 offers a payload capacity of up to 17,5 kg and a reach of 1,300 mm. Thanks to its direct integration capabilities for sensors and cameras, the cobot can be easily adapted to tasks of varying complexity. Its industrial design supports short cycle times, even as task complexity increases.

UR18g-950

The UR18g-950 combines payload capacity with agility, allowing the use of larger grippers to handle heavier loads while remaining lightweight enough for easy mounting on most gantry systems. With a reach of 950 mm and speeds of up to 4 m/s, it is ideal for applications such as pick-and-place, where minimizing cycle time is critical.

Next-Generation Tool Flange That's Ready for AI

Each robot arm features the updated Tool Flange, providing greater control capabilities with less effort. The flange includes the necessary vision and sensing capabilities to enable AI models to operate with the cobot in real time, providing data, power, and safety functions directly at the flange. This simplifies the wiring and connection of cameras and high-speed sensors, which are essential for advanced automation and physical AI applications.

In addition, the cobot features integrated force and torque sensing, while impedance control and RTDE (Real-Time Data Exchange) provide the sensitive force control required for precision manipulation and assembly tasks. The latest addition is the detachable SP7 Smart Panel, designed for easier cobot arm control.

Innovative SP7 Smart Panel for Faster Control

The SP7 Smart Panel provides a faster way to set up and program the cobot directly at the flange. It features a safety-compliant Freedrive function, LED indicators, and three configurable buttons capable of launching Smart Skills in PolyScope X. The Smart Panel reduces setup and programming time in applications that require Touch-to-Teach or operator interaction, such as high-mix, low-volume manufacturing.

Compact CB7 Core Controller with Industrial Design

The completely redesigned CB7 Core Controller delivers 40% more computing power in 30% less space compared to previous generations. This enables communication across multiple networks for modern automation architectures and physical AI. It connects to PLCs, HMIs, MES platforms, IPCs, and machine vision systems, reducing the need for external network switches. The CB7 is available both as a standalone control box and in a compact version designed for integration into an automation cabinet. The controller is also compatible with cobots from the e-Series and UR Series.

Intuitive and Ergonomic TP7 Core Teach Pendant

Building on the already excellent user experience associated with UR, the new Teach Pendant is more than 20% lighter and features a more ergonomic design compared with previous generations. It offers multiple grip positions, configurable smart buttons, a Full HD display, and a new virtual joystick. Designed for comfort during extended shifts, it makes programming intuitive rather than overly technical, allowing operators to spend less time learning the interface and more time focusing on the actual task.

Advanced PolyScope X Software

The software is certified according to ISO 10218-1 and includes safety functions and features designed to meet cybersecurity requirements. With open APIs and ROS 2 support, PolyScope X enables developers to create and deploy edge AI applications using IPCs and external AI computing resources. Additional software packages expand the cobot’s capabilities with features such as ProfiSafe, OPC UA, and logic programming, while providing easy access to applications from independent developers, including Rocketfarm Pally and Inbolt 3D Vision Guidance.
